Easy Yogurt Flatbread (No Yeast)

This has soon become one of our favourite lunches – yogurt flatbread with avocado, roasted peppers, cucumber, spinach, and any veg you like really.

Since I made this naan bread for the first time, I have never bought supermarket naan breads again. It is not as bready as the naan bread you get from Indian takeaways, but the yoghurt makes the bread so fluffy and soft.

Ingredients

Makes 4

200g plain flour
200g plain yoghurt
2 tsp baking powder
¼ tsp salt

Method

  1. Mix all ingredients in a large bowl. Knead it in the bowl for a minute or so until it comes together in a fairly sticky dough. If necessary, add a little more flour to make it manageable.
  2. Divide it into 4 equal pieces. Using a rolling pin dusted with flour, roll each one out onto a floured surface.
  3. Heat a frying pan (no oil) until hot. Cook each flatbread for a few minutes on each side until lightly golden spots appear and it puffs up.
  4. Serve warm!
We also serve this flatbread with a houmous and veg salad – roasted sweet potatoes, sweetcorn, pickled red cabbage, maple toasted nuts and fresh coriander. Again, any veg you like will go well with this flatbread.
And of course, flatbread and curry!
